Where to next?

Well that's it for helpx in France.

An incredible experience, but I'm ready to go and say nom nom nom homemade pasta nom nom nom.

Right. But before working on a farm outside Orvieto, Italy, we'll take a little vaca (life is hard) in Bordeaux and Florence for a week or so starting tomorrow. New York stud Sean Murphy will be joining us in Bordeaux and, as we somehow survived Machu Picchu together this time last year, I think we'll be just fine in wine country.

More updates and pictures to come shortly!

  2. Larissa and Andrew,
I've been watching your pix and blogs, and really enjoying it. You are really wringing everything out of this experience; that is awesome. I feel like I'm there. Larissa, you have a terrific eye with your camera. Your flower photos are simply gorgeous.

  5. Larissa,
This is so exciting. Your mom sent me the link to your blog. It sounds like you are having an amazing time; meeting a lot of great people, doing a lot of hard work and learning a lot about different cultures. How wonderful! Thanks for posting your descriptions of your trip and your pictures, as well as the links. I looked at the helpx site. What a great organization! It seems to be an awesome way to get to experience so much. How great to work part time and tour around as well. Do they help set up your itinerary, or did you guys do that on your own? Enjoy and thanks for sharing!

  7. Paula, a bit more about helpx. It is a great organization. I've meet great people and felt like I've experienced life at the local pace. Flexibility and a willingness to extend yourself beyond the designated 4-5 hours a day (helping with dinner, cleaning up, extended chats, etc) helps build good relationships with hosts. Basically I work during the morning but I'm still a house guest so its important to keep that in mind. In response to your question, the hosts often give suggestions for things to do during free time but its up to us to figure out our itineraries and get from place to place. If you have any more questions I'd be happy to email you some details. Take care!
