How anyone could reject you two is beyond me but I know you'll come up with an even better plan. Sorry you had such a disappointing day.

Very sorry to hear about visa for India, it is hard to understand immigration officers. When you are not being paid, its better to go on tourist visa. I learned that after being turned away a few times by US immigration.
I hope this is not a definite refusal, that they will change their mind. Love
Your truly almost ended up in jail in Switzerland. Those are perils of international travel.

  7. why do you guys need a work visa? you should only get a tourist visa and if the NGO requires a work visa, they should help you get it once you are there.

  8. I also could have just paid off the official at the embassy ;)

But no, I know what you said has been done before, but the NGO required a work visa upon arrival. And as for why we needed a work visa...because we'd be working/volunteering, which are both classified under work/entry(x) visas.

  9. . . . it sucks, I know. Wish I'd figured this out before leaving, but, hey, this what happens when I try and fit a lot of stuff into a trip abroad: I miss a few crucial details here and there! We'll definitely get to India on a tourist visa though.

Katie - know anywhere we can volunteer in Nepal. I hear it's pretty awesome there =)
